In Memoriam:
Honoring the Legacy of Joanie Johnson

Joanie Johnson

Joanie Johnson’s devotion to our community reached every corner of campus, but nowhere was her passion more visible than at the H. Alden Johnson Rink. Over the years, Joanie and her family played a pivotal role in elevating the athletic experience for our students and fans alike, funding critical facility upgrades and providing the resources to purchase two state-of-the-art Zambonis.

Following her passing in March 2026, we reflect with deep gratitude on a lifetime of warmth, leadership, and generous spirit. Through a meaningful bequest to Pingree School, Joanie ensured that her legacy—alongside the memory of her late husband, Augie—will support future generations of student-athletes for decades to come.

While this gift provides a foundation for campus athletics, Joanie’s impact is equally measured in the joy she brought to the arena. Her cherished annual ride across the ice on the Zamboni was a beloved tradition that drew cheers from every corner of the stands.

We remain profoundly grateful to Joanie and the entire Johnson family for their unwavering support, vibrant spirit, and enduring commitment to our school.
